What is accreditation?

Under CDM 2015 clients who are responsible for appointing a designer or contractor to carry out work on a project must take reasonable steps to satisfy themselves about their capability. Those clients without construction expertise may have to rely on a CDM Advisor to guide them on how best to meet their duties.

Any business offering advice to Clients or CDM duty holders, or undertaking CDM roles themselves must have suitable and appropriate Skill, Knowledge, and Experience supported by appropriate training (SKET) and a well-rounded attitude to achieving health and safety goals.

The ICS Registers offer clients, members of the public, government agencies and procurement bodies reassurance that an ICS Member’s SKE and T has been assessed by an independent third party accreditation scheme. Businesses on the Register will be audited annually to ensure SKE and T is maintained

The ICS Registers are recognised within the Safety Systems in Procurement (SSIP) Terms of Reference and within PAS 91.
